Evan Roth spoke at Hofstra on April 15th and he is a very interesting person! He has done a lot of interesting things and here are a lot of things that mentioned during his visit from Paris. He was in town for the Seven on Seven event held at the New Museum.
These are some pointers he mentioned that are very important.
Do "Weekend Projects"
Good ideas can happen in a short amount of time.
Publishing online is very important.
The stuff that is published online can be accessed easier and people can look at the ideas and things that you came out with.
Don't be worried about people stealing your work
Some of the work that he talked about:
Graffiti Research Lab
"Fuck Google"
Jay-Z, "Brooklyn we go hard"

Future with info graphics

The world has come so far along that what's life going to be like in another 10 years?
The year 2020 seems to be shorthand for the future. In 2008 CNN and Ericsson collaborated on "Just imagine...what will life be like in 2020?" while 2009 saw the creation of the "Vision 2020: Considering the World and the Future Architect" project.
This year frogdesign, prompted by Forbes, sounded off with "Envisioning Your Future in 2010." Hit the link to check out their ThingBook (augmented reality), Bodynet ("like Google for our bodies") and Whuffie Meter (turning social networking capital into actual currency) concepts.
Hard drive upgrade

Made from environmentally-friendly halogen-free plastic
Patterns embossed into the surface create different patterns depending on where the room's light source is
Intent was to "mimic the way sunlight filters through tree leaves as they sway in the wind."
The pattern isn't purely decorative--it's scratch- and fingerprint-resistant, and also helps distribute heat.

Square Bottles

Soda bottles are now going to be in square plastic bottles. In the name of eco-friendliness. The new bottle shape would take up far less space in shipping pallets per bottle.
Another design feature is that underneath the label, the bottle is ribbed so that it can compress like an accordion, taking up even less space when it's time to go into the recycling truck.
Food Flags

National Flags NEVER tasted that good or looked that delicious
The very first Sydney International Food Festival has drawn to a close and food lovers across town (and beyond) are resting their tastebuds.
The flags of participating countries were recreated using popular local foods from each nation.
